Robert Doherty is a television writer, producer and showrunner, best known for creating, executive producing and showrunning the CBS series “Elementary,” a modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes that aired for seven seasons from 2012 to 2019, starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. Before that, he served as an executive producer on “Medium” for Paramount/CBS, spending six seasons helping to shape its distinctive blend of supernatural and procedural storytelling. Earlier in his career, Doherty worked steadily as a writer and producer for more than a decade on series including “Dark Angel,” “Tru Calling,” “Point Pleasant” and “Star Trek: Voyager.” Known for his focus on procedural structure and character-driven drama, Doherty has built a veteran reputation for creating compelling, long-running television anchored in strong narrative design and inventive adaptation.
