Gina Balian
President, FX Entertainment
Gina Balian is president of FX Entertainment, overseeing scripted original programming including development, current series, casting, production and business affairs for FX and FX Productions. Balian was promoted to this position in October 2022 after previously serving as president of Original Programming.
Balian has been instrumental in developing FX’s slate of original programming that has received a total of 637 Emmy® Awards nominations and 134 Emmy wins, including an FX record 93 nominations in 2024 and 36 Emmy Award wins, the most of any brand or streamer that year.
Balian most recently oversaw the development of the global event series “Alien: Earth” and “Shōgun,” with the latter winning 18 Emmy Awards, setting the record for the most wins by any series in a single season. Balian was also instrumental in developing the limited series “American Crime Story: Aaron Hernandez,” “Dying for Sex,” “FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans” and “Say Nothing.” Prior to that, Balian developed “Class of ’09,” “Fleishman is in Trouble,” “A Murder at the End of the World” and “Under the Banner of Heaven.”
Balian joined FX Networks in 2012 to lead a newly created division devoted to making FX the premiere destination for limited series. She developed FX Networks’ first limited series, “Fargo,” which has delivered five award-winning installments and the award-winning “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
Prior to joining FX Networks, Balian served as senior vice president of Drama Series at HBO.
