THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY EARNS 125 EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS

The Walt Disney Company proudly announces 125 nominations for the 78th Emmy® Awards across its content brands and studios, including ABC, Disney Kids & Family, FX, Disney Television Studios (20th Television Animation and 20th Television), Hulu Originals, National Geographic and Onyx Collective; and The Walt Disney Studios, including Lucasfilm, Marvel Television, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures. Disney’s streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu are home to a total of 109 nominations.

ABC received 46 nominations, the most of any broadcast network. “Abbott Elementary” (20th Television) earned its fifth consecutive Outstanding Comedy Series nomination, along with acting nods for Quinta Brunson, Janelle James and Tyler James Williams. “Jimmy Kimmel Live” landed its 15th consecutive nod for Outstanding Variety Series and its first nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 13 years. “Dancing With The Stars” earned its first nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition Program in a decade. ABC dominated the game show categories, claiming four of five nominations in both Outstanding Game Show and Outstanding Host for Game Show. “Shifting Gears” (20th Television) scored its first-ever nomination for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Multi-Camera Comedy Series, “Will Trent” (20th Television) picked up its second consecutive nod for Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming, and “The Rookie” (20th Television) landed its fifth nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Drama Programming.

FX/Hulu garnered 23 nominations, including three for Outstanding Series: “The Bear” for Outstanding Comedy, “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” (20th Television) for Outstanding Limited, and Welcome to Wrexham” for Outstanding Unstructured Reality.  Both “The Bear” and “Welcome to Wrexham” continue their four-year streak, marking an Outstanding Series nomination for every eligible season to date. The first season of “Alien: Earth” was recognized with four nominations.

The Walt Disney Studios received 10 nominations, led by five for “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show.” “Wonder Man” saw Yahya Abdul-Mateen II earn Marvel’s first-ever nomination for a Performance in a Comedy Series, while Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: Visions (Vol 3)” was nominated for Outstanding Animated Program and “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” also picked up recognition. 20th Century Studios’ “Predator: Killer of Killers” and Searchlight’s “In the Blink of an Eye” also received nods.

Hulu Originals earned 22 total nominations. The drama series “Paradise” (20th Television) from Dan Fogelman garnered seven nominations, including a second nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and performance nominations for Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson and Shailene Woodley. Hulu also received three stand-up comedy nominations for “Nikki Glaser: Good Girl,” and “Only Murders in the Building” (20th Television) received its fifth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as a performance nomination for Martin Short. Chase Infiniti received her first-ever nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in “The Testaments.”

National Geographic garners 12 nominations, including Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special for “Tucci in Italy,” the second consecutive nomination for the series over two seasons, as well as Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Narrator for “Ocean with David Attenborough” and Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking for “The Tale of Silyan.”   Sir David Attenborough, who celebrated his 100th Birthday this year, holds the record for the most nominations in the Narrator category.

Disney Television Studios (20th Television & 20th Television Animation) garnered 59 Emmy nominations, including ten Outstanding Series nominations including “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Simpsons” for Outstanding Animated Program; three Outstanding Comedy Series nominations for “Abbott Elementary,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Nobody Wants This”; two Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series nominations for “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” and “The Beast in Me”; Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for “The Muppet Show”; and Outstanding Variety Series for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Additionally, the Outstanding Drama Series nomination for “Paradise” and the Outstanding Comedy Series nomination for “Only Murders in the Building” again make creator and executive producer Dan Fogelman a double nominee across both Outstanding Series categories in the same year.
