Executive Producer, “Nightline” and “IMPACT x Nightline”

Eman Varoqua is an award-winning executive producer of “Nightline” and “IMPACT x Nightline.” In her role, she oversees the prestigious late-night news program anchored by Juju Chang and Byron Pitts.

Varoqua joined ABC News in 2018 as a senior producer for “Nightline.” A year later, she was promoted to senior broadcast producer for the program. She was a key member of the team behind some of the show’s most enterprising stories and special projects, such as the continuing coverage at the U.S. border and the Emmy®-nominated full shows on the Uighurs.

Varoqua executive produced the program’s breaking news special on the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol and was a senior producer on the program’s documentary short “Asylum,” which was accepted into the St. Louis International Film Festival, AmDocs and the Sarasota Film Festival. She also helped lead teams on two original programs produced for Hulu: “Final Hours, America’s Longest War” and “The Housewife and the Hustler.” A second part of “The Housewife and the Hustler” was later released in 2024.

Varoqua executive produced “The Appointment” and “On the Brink,” programs exploring the overturning of Roe v. Wade and its impact on women’s healthcare. “The Appointment” won a Peabody Award, and “On the Brink” went on to win an Emmy, among other awards.

“On the Brink” was a feature in ABC News Studios’ newest weekly newsmagazine, “IMPACT x Nightline,” which Varoqua successfully pitched and launched in 2022. “IMPACT x Nightline” continues to win major awards, including the Newsmagazine Gracie, and has been nominated for Emmy Awards.

Before joining ABC News, Varoqua worked at Channel One News for nine years, three of which as an executive producer. She held roles as senior broadcast producer and series producer, working on the channel’s long-form award-winning content from around the world on crucial issues, including the Arab Spring, the Syrian refugee crisis, climate change and a documentary short on the DMZ.

Previously, Varoqua worked at NBC News as a producer and assignment editor. She began her career as a reporter for The Record, covering politics, courts and crime, as well as general assignment beats.

Varoqua graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a bachelor’s degree in communication, with a concentration in journalism. She resides in New Jersey with her family.
