‘World News Tonight’ Scores Highest Ratings in Adults 25-54 in 5 Months and in Adults 18-49 in 9 Months and Grows Year to Year in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

‘World News Tonight’ Is #1 in Total Viewers for 10th Year in a Row and in Both Key Adults Demos for the 7th Year Straight Season to Date

With 8.2+ million Total Viewers, “World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.273 million), Adults 25-54 (1.030 million) and Adults 18-49 (790,000) during the week of Nov. 24, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Big Data Plus Panel Program Ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

  • “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (6.240 million, 918,000 and 713,000, respectively) by 2.033 million Total Viewers, by 112,000 Adults 25-54 and by 77,000 Adults 18-49.
  • “World News Tonight” increased its lead over “NBC Nightly News” week to week in Total Viewers (+36% – 2.033 million vs. 1,499 million).
  • “World News Tonight” improved on the previous week in Total Viewers (+4%/+334,000 – 8.273 million vs. 7.939 million), Adults 25-54 (+4%/+35,000 – 1.030 million vs. 995,000) and Adults 18-49 (+11%/+76,000 – 790,000 vs. 714,000), delivering largest Total Viewers in 9 months, Adults 25-54 in 5 months and Adults 18-49 in 9 months.
  • “World News Tonight” grows year to year in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. 
  • “World News Tonight” (8.273 million, 1.030 million and 790,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.256 million, 547,000 and 427,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+4.017 million), Adults 25-54 (+483,000) and Adults 18-49 (+363,000).
  • Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.703 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 10th straight year, based on Most Current Big Data+Panel Ratings. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.112 million) by 1.591 million and “CBS Evening News” (3.963 million) by 3.740 million. In addition, “World News Tonight” is delivering its largest Total Viewer season lead over the CBS program in at least 34 years — since at least the 1991-1992 season; the Nielsen electronic database started in September 1991.
  • “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 7th season in a row. “World News Tonight” (932,000 and 658,000, respectively) is leading NBC (838,000 and 567,000, respectively) by 94,000 Adults 25-54 and by 91,000 Adults 18-49. Additionally, “World News Tonight” is widening margins with “CBS Evening News” (482,000 and 352,000, respectively) by 450,000 Adults 25-54 and 306,000 Adults 18-49 versus the comparable weeks last season.

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. ET on ABC. Chris Dinan is the executive producer of the broadcast.
