ABC’S ‘WORLD NEWS TONIGHT WITH DAVID MUIR’ WINS BY 1.7+ MILLION VIEWERS OVER NBC — LARGEST LEAD IN OVER ONE YEAR

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 program in Total Viewers (7.272 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.000 million) on all of broadcast and cable during the week of July 21, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” has been the No. 1 most-watched program on television for 11 straight weeks (with and without sports).

• “World News Tonight” ranked as the No. 1 newscast across broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.272 million), Adults 25-54 (1.000 million) and Adults 18-49 (689,000).
• “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (5.487 million, 775,000 and 498,000, respectively) by 1.785 million Total Viewers, by 225,000 Adults 25-54 and by 191,000 Adults 18-49.
• “World News Tonight” widened its margins over “NBC Nightly News” versus the previous week in Total Viewers (+6% – 1.785 million vs. 1.683 million), Adults 25-54 (+13% – 225,000 vs. 199,000) and Adults 18-49 (+30% – 191,000 vs. 147,000), delivering its largest overall viewer lead over the NBC program in over 1 year — since w/o 7/1/24.
• “World News Tonight” increased its lead over “NBC Nightly News” year to year in Total Viewers (+27% – 1.785 million vs. 1.402 million), Adults 25-54 (+36% – 225,000 vs. 166,000) and Adults 18-49 (+115% – 191,000 vs. 89,000).
• “World News Tonight” (7.272 million, 1.000 million and 689,000, respectively) more than doubled the performance of “CBS Evening News” (3.615 million, 495,000 and 366,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+101%/+3.657 million) and Adults 25-54 (+102%/+505,000), while nearly doubling its performance in Adults 18-49 (+88%/+323,000).
• Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.681 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 9th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.092 million) by 1.589 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.243 million) by 3.438 million. In fact, “World News Tonight” is growing its Total Viewer lead over NBC compared to the same point last season (+19% – 1.589 million vs. 1.332 million) to its largest in 30 years — since the 1994-1995 season. In addition, “World News Tonight” is increasing its Total Viewer season margin versus “CBS Evening News” by 11% (3.438 million vs. 3.092 million) to its largest in 4 years — since the 2020-2021 season.
• “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 6th straight season. Season to date, “World News Tonight” (1.078 million and 746,000, respectively) is leading NBC (893,000 and 590,000, respectively), increasing its margins from the same point last season in Adults 25-54 (+29% – 185,000 vs. 143,000) and Adults 18-49 (+44% – 156,000 vs. 108,000).
• In addition, “World News Tonight” is widening margins with “CBS Evening News” (598,000 and 409,000, respectively) by double digits in Adults 25-54 (+16% – 480,000 vs. 415,000) and Adults 18-49 (+18% – 337,000 vs. 286,000).
