Lara Spencer

Contributor, Good Morning America

Lara Spencer is a six-time Emmy® Award-winning anchor and host, currently on “Good Morning America.” She is also the creator and host of HGTV’s Emmy Award-winning “Flea Market Flip” and the creator, executive producer and host of “Everything But the House” on HGTV.

Spencer joined ABC News in 1995 as a reporter for ABC’s flagship owned television station, WABC-TV. While there, she led coverage of national stories, including the crash of TWA flight 800 and the death of Princess Diana. Spencer joined the network and America’s most-watched morning show, “Good Morning America,” in 1999, first as a correspondent while still reporting for WABC-TV and then full-time for ABC News in 2001 as a national correspondent.

Spencer was named anchor of the new CBS syndicated show “The Insider” in 2006. Her work there helped make “The Insider” the No. 1 syndicated entertainment show in its time slot for seven years until she returned to “Good Morning America” in 2011.

Spencer’s first job as a reporter was at WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and she also worked at News 12 Long Island prior to joining ABC News.

In addition to her work on “GMA” every morning, Spencer has written two New York Times bestselling books: “I Break for Yard Sales” and “Flea Market Fabulous.”

She is a passionate advocate for pet adoption — with three rescue dogs of her own — and works as an ambassador for North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill shelter. She is currently on the advisory board of the Hospital for Special Surgery and a supporter of The Brain Cancer Center at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

Spencer graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. While there, she was captain of Penn State’s Division I swimming and diving team and was named an All-American Springboard Diver.
